BLOG TOUR: Murder and Mayhem by Rhys Ford

First things first – can we just have a moment of silence for that tour banner? *sigh* Killing Them Softly…AMEN. That title and pic are just a tiny bit of why you should be glad you decided to join us today! We’re here to preview and discuss this amazing first book in Rhys Ford’s newest series from Dreamspinner Press! Here to get things rolling is none other than Rhys Ford herself. Thanks for joining us today – welcome back to 3 Chicks After Dark!

A funny thing happened on the way to the murder scene… I needed victims.

Now skip this part if you’ve heard it before but see, it’s hard to be a serial killer without victims. And if there’s one thing I do like writing, it is murder.

For the introduction of Rook and Dante in Murder and Mayhem, I wanted to do something different so I reached out to my fellow authors and ask; Can I murder you?

Everyone I reached out to said yes. Some were reluctant, some were enthusiastic but mostly there was a tingle of impending doom because really, nothing says I love you like a particularly well planned murder—especially if it’s yours.

The authors I’m killing off on this tour are some of my favourites. I could kill everyone I like. Sadly, I wouldn’t have enough time and I do have to move on to other murders, other books. But I’ve gathered a few… and best of all, like in some of the better mysteries in life, there is a plot twist.

To launch the Murder and Mayhem series, I will be giving away books written by my victims as well as a $20 USD gift certificate to the eTailer of the winner’s choice.

Catch each authors’ death on the tour and be sure to enter to win! And thank you all very much.

Jacob Flores — Ebook of Choice
Jacob is my beloved brother in coffee and sleeplessness. We’ve shared a table at GRL since the beginning and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather face the hordes with. Mostly because his smile is so bright it blinds. And he’s sweet.

Jordan L. Hawk — SPECTR: The Complete First Series
Jordan Hawk RF

I will admit to threatening to suck Jordan’s brain loose from her skull. Because she writes that damned well and I want to be as good as Jordan when I grow up. Totally envious.

Murder_Cover_Ford_smallDead women tell no tales.

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens stole many a priceless thing in the past, but he’s never been accused of taking a life—until now. It was one thing to find a former associate inside Potter’s Field, his pop culture memorabilia shop, but quite another to stumble across her dead body.

Detective Dante Montoya thought he’d never see Rook Stevens again—not after his former partner’d falsified evidence to entrap the jewelry thief and Stevens walked off scot-free. So when he tackled a fleeing murder suspect, Dante was shocked to discover the blood-covered man was none other than the thief he’d fought to put in prison and who still made his blood sing.

Rook is determined to shake loose the murder charge against him, even if it means putting distance between him and the rugged Cuban-Mexican detective who brought him down. If one dead con artist wasn’t bad enough, others soon follow, and as the bodies pile up around Rook’s feet, he’s forced to reach out to the last man he’d expect to believe in his innocence—and the only man who’s ever gotten under Rook’s skin.

!rhys_ford_headshotRhys Ford was born and raised in Hawai’i then wandered off to see the world. After chewing through a pile of books, a lot of odd food, and a stray boyfriend or two, Rhys eventually landed in San Diego, which is a very nice place but seriously needs more rain.

Rhys admits to sharing the house with three cats of varying degrees of black fur and a ginger cairn terrorist. Rhys is also enslaved to the upkeep a 1979 Pontiac Firebird, a Toshiba laptop, and an overworked red coffee maker.

And at the Starbucks down the street. No really, they’re 24/7. And a drive-thru. It’s like heaven.

My books can be purchased, folded and first chapters read at Dreamspinner Press.

  1. Now it’s Jordan and Jacob’s turn you certainly given them very grisly deaths especially smothered by mice. Then again brain sucked by squid isn’t much better!

  2. The Banner has been tempting us for a little while now, it’s Lush!
A twofer of imaginative killings! How many will be left?

  3. Now I don’t have to feel guilty when I have calamari–I’m saving someone from having her brain sucked out!

    1. I know! I have mixed feelings about this… ;)

For the record, I think smothered by mice would be a horrible way to go. Sorry, Jacob.

  4. Those are a couple of terrible ways to die. I guess the mice is worse because they probably crawl all over their victim first. Eek.

I hope that squid is going to continue writing all of Jordan L. Hawk’s book series because I really need those books.

  5. Okay I would totally panic if I was being smothered by mice. I actually don’t have an issue with rodents but eesh I probably would after that. And is the squid like a kraken or just a normal squid?

  6. I love this murder and mayhem theme going on.

I would die coming in contact with mice, so there’s that. I also never go into water above my knees. I have a phobia of drowning.

Thanks Mom for scaring me as a child.

  7. Whoever designs the images, My hat’s off to them… they are cool! I hope Jordan comes back as a zombie at least, lol.

  8. I love Rhys’ books and am enjoying the blog tour! The little character cartoons of the authors are adorable and the ways they’re being killed off so creative. I recently sat and read the whole Cole McGinnis series one after the other. I hated knowing that I was getting to the end of the last one, I wanted it to go on and on. I can’t wait to get a hold of this one.

  9. Poor Jacob what will Mike do. And death by being sucked by a squid? Very imaginative. No wonder I love reading your books.

  10. You must have spent a lot of time for each of your blog stops! I am “sad” you seem to be killing off all of my favorite authors!

  11. Oh I wonder how the author serial killer planned these authors demises, as Jacob is to nice to be killed by mice, but sadly the statistics for squid deaths is quite high and they called ‘diablo rojo’ in Mexico due to their aggressive tendencies!

Thank you for being part of this fun blog book tour and for a chance to win some of these authors books :)
