After the Fall Blog Tour: Excerpt & Giveaway

3 Chicks After Dark is thrilled to be a part of the blog tour for the 6th book in the Tucker Springs series, After the Fall by L. A. Witt. This is one of our favorite M/M series – great writing and interesting characters are just two reasons why.

About the Book:
After years of saving every penny, Nathan has finally managed to buy the horse of his dreams. He’s looking forward to a summer of exploring the Colorado mountain trails above Tucker Springs with Tsarina. But on their very first ride, a motorcyclist makes a wrong turn, scaring Tsarina into bolting and leaving Nathan with a broken leg, a broken hand, and a ruined summer.

Ryan is a loner and a nomad, content with working odd jobs before moving on to the next town. Feeling guilty for causing the accident that leaves Nathan in two casts, Ryan offers to keep Tsarina exercised until Nathan heals.

Despite their bad start, Nathan and Ryan soon become friends . . . and then much more. But with a couple of nasty breakups in his past, Nathan doesn’t want feelings getting involved—especially knowing that Ryan will never settle down. But since when do feelings ever listen to reason?

After the Fall is available October 7th from Riptide Publishing, and is part of the Tucker Springs series.

About the Author
L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer currently living in the glamorous and ultra-futuristic metropolis of Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two cats, and a disembodied penguin brain that communicates with her telepathically. In addition to writing smut and disturbing the locals, L.A. is said to be working with the US government to perfect a genetic modification that will allow humans to survive indefinitely on Corn Pops and beef jerky. This is all a cover, though, as her primary leisure activity is hunting down her arch nemesis, erotica author Lauren Gallagher, who is also said to be lurking somewhere in Omaha.

L. A.’s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter (@GallagherWitt).

Here’s the fun part! A message from L. A. Witt:

Every comment on this blog tour enters you in a drawing for a choice of two eBooks off my backlist (excluding After the Fall) and a $10 Riptide Publishing store credit. Entries close at midnight, Eastern time, on October 13th, and winners will be announced on October 14th.   Contest is NOT restricted to U.S. entries.

Note: It should come as no surprise that I am once again traveling during a blog tour, this time to California so that Cat Grant and I can go see 30 Seconds to Mars. Twice. I will still make every effort to post responses as often as possible, but I can’t promise they’ll be terribly coherent on the concert days (October 11th and 12th) because…30 Seconds to Mars. But I will definitely stop in as often—and as coherently—as I can!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to leave a comment below.

Melting Away The Ice Blog Tour – Guest Post

Do you know what today is? It’s the start of the NHL regular season! The day my beloved Chicago Blackhawks will hoist their brand new Stanley Cup Championship banner. What better day for 3 Chicks After Dark to host author Mary Smith as part of the Melting Away The Ice Blog Tour? It’s practically perfect – hockey is back!

Since Melting Away The Ice is a hockey romance, we invited Mary to 3 Chicks today to talk about her love of hockey and how it helped or hindered writing a book about the sport. Of course we asked her to throw in her favorite team and player, too. Take it away, Mary!

First, thank you so much for letting me be a guest on your amazing site!

Now, down to business:

My love for hockey actually helped me. I watched Blackhawks games all the time. When I was having trouble (and no games were on) I would turn on the 2010 Stanley Cup Champions DVD. Wow! I sound kind of creepy! Oh well, I love my Chicago Blackhawks so much and I am not ashamed to admit it.

The one thing that helped the most (when I was stuck in a writers’ block) was the 2013 Playoffs. I am sure you’re wondering why, but it’s simple … PATRICK SHARP! See, I am the biggest Patrick Sharp fan! My main character (Lucas Sharp) is mused by Patrick Sharp. See, Sharp had an awesome post-season and I loved every moment!

Even though my book is a love story, you always have to love a Hot Hockey Guy *wink*

Thanks, Mary!

Okay, I may have known she was a Blackhawks fan, but I never get tired of hearing other fans talk about my team. ;) If you’re not familiar with her favorite player Patrick Sharp, I give you this.

Oops, he’s not wearing his jersey. That might make him harder to spot on the ice, so let’s try that again.

We hope you’ll check out Melting Away The Ice, the first book in The Ice series.  Lucas & Sara heat things up – no wonder the ice is melting. :)

About the book (from Goodreads):
Sara Smith, a hard working lawyer, thought she found her true love. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Now she goes home at night and avoids people. Until one day her best friend forces her to go to a hockey game.

Lucas Sharp, the Captain of the Chicago Eagles, has focused on one thing, winning the Cup. It was not until a meet and greet after the game that he saw Sara.
After finally going on a few dates Lucas knows that she is hiding something, but Sara won’t talk about it.
Will Lucas be able to melt away the ice on her heart and still win the Cup? Or will Sara keep her true-self frozen away from finding happiness.

Heed Thy Mistress Tour Banner

3 Chicks After Dark is thrilled to be a part of the Heed Thy Mistress Blog Tour sponsored by Circlet Press. At our stop on the tour, we’re featuring the works of three authors: Cameron Quintain,  Elizabeth Schechter, and TammyJo Eckhart. Each of these works has a slightly dark and/or Domme side to them. Be sure to scroll all the way down for a chance to win – one lucky reader will receive an e-copy of each of these three books courtesy of Circlet Press!

Here’s a little more about the books:

The Viscountess Investigates: A Dominion Erotic Mystery by Cameron Quintain
ISBN: 978-1-61390-035-2
Word Count: 69,044
Page Count: 204
List Price: $6.99

The regal Viscountess and her partner Severin are not your typical detectives, nor your typical mistress/slave pair from the BDSM subculture. They inhabit the magical and kinky world hidden by the powerful spell known as the Blindfold, and they travel from the Real World into magical Dominions that reflect every kink fantasy humans can dream of. When the powerful leader of the Algophilia Society is murdered, their path to track down the killer brings them through a Victorian London that never was, where “fox” hunts involve no animals, and a feudal Japan where a mysterious Jade carver creates terrifying magical dildos. (Think: if Elric’s Stormbringer were a dildo instead of a sword.) Their loving bond as owner and slave is tested–and reinforced–as they whip, suck, and Scene their way to unraveling the mystery and confronting the culprit.

Packed with sf/fantasy film, book, and gaming references, The Viscountess Investigates is both a romp through BDSM subcultures and a geeky fantastical delight.

However, to William, a wealthy young man born and raised in India, she is the very essence of his desires.

William is recovering from the loss of everything he knows and loves when he first meets the Succubus. With great care she tears him apart… and he falls in love again. But their idyll cannot last: there is a killer loose in London, and the darkness of William’s past is about to collide with the terror of his present.

Beyond the Softness of His Fur by TammyJo Eckhart
A Science Fiction Tale of Genetics, Sex, and Love Between Owners and Pets
Part One: Wonders of Modern Science
ISBN 978-1-61390-023-9
Word Count: 38,000 words
List Price: $3.99 ebook

When driven and dominant advertising executive Emily Potter is promoted within her company, the bosses make it clear that the promotion comes with certain expectations: she is to purchase herself a morph–a customizable animal hybrid of the future that is both sexual pet and status symbol. Emily’s personal tastes require a very unique set of specifications for her morph. Emily desires a male pet that is both exotic and submissive–yet all of her expectations are exceeded with Wynn, a beautiful white fox morph with a desire to please his new Master and an unusual intelligence that intrigues her. But the soulful wisdom that makes Wynn so special is a challenge to the morph-culture status quo and could ultimately spell disaster for both Master and pet.

Beyond The Softness of His Fur Part One: Wonders of Modern Science is the first installment in TammyJo Eckhart’s provocative and edgy science-fiction trilogy. “A tale of genetics, sex, and love between owners and pets,” Part One is concerned with the bonding period between Emily and Wynn and the unexpected threats to their growing relationship. Beautiful and sensitive Wynn is naïve to the complex world outside of his initial laboratory home and it is Emily’s job to educate and discipline him according to her needs. But to her surprise, Emily finds more and more it is up to her to protect and care for the intelligent and sensitive creature from a world that would rather bend Wynn to suit its expectations rather than Emily’s own.

Each stop on the tour gives authors a chance to answer a burning question about something relevant to their writing. Take a look at what they had to say:

Q: What do you think it is that makes a dominant woman such a specific and sought-after fantasy?

ELIZABETH: Oh… good question. That requires thought.

I think it might have something to do with that Victorian ideal — the angel or the whore. The ideal woman is the angel, and there’s a definite air of submission there. The man of the house was supposed to be the Alpha, the end-all-and-be-all. He ruled the roost. That was what we got from the Victorian world, and what was reinforced by the 1950s iconic families — Ward rules the family, and June kept the house (in high heels, full dress and pearls). The woman was supposed to be subservient to the man. But the woman who refused that role and who stepped outside of the role of angel of the house, they became something forbidden, and therefore an erotic figure. Think of Marlene Dietrich in her black top hat and tails, kissing another woman in the film Morocco. She shocked the world with the clothing she wore and that she was taking on a masculine role, and she was an almost immediate sex symbol.

The dominant woman is part of that. She’s rejecting the defined role. She’s on the outside. Forbidden fruit, as it were.

CAMERON: We live in a very male dominated society. Most women never learn that they can be powerful and capable in their everyday life or in the bedroom. A strong woman yearns for a man who loves her because of her strength, not in spite of it. A submissive man yearns for a woman who understands his needs and doesn’t expect him to behave like a typical alpha male. With everything in society telling them that they’re wrong it often feels like a female dominant relationship is just the stuff of dreams.

TAMMYJO: I think there are two factors at work.

The first is that it isn’t the form of relationship promoted by or supported by current society — heck, not by most human societies that have existed.  The novel, the different, the unusual — those will always be an erotic charge for some people.  For others it will also be a way to think about different societies, different power, or different authority, not merely to get you wet or hard, but because you are unhappy with your society right now.  The extremes of female dominance that can be played out in fantasy varies so widely because different readers respond to different ideas; they want to try out different things.  Of course you also get the fetishists who become focused on only one scenario, one type, and that has led to the stereotypical femdom fantasies, too.

The other, and I’m sure this will be controversial, is nature.  I think, given that human beings are born alive and often raised most hands-on by mothers, it feels almost natural that women would make decisions for us, because the first decisions made for us are usually made by our mothers.  After talking with so many readers and other people over the years, I notice that a lot of them see female dominance as comforting, as safe.  To me it feels normal to be a leader, because this is what a woman should do; she should care for others, and one way to do that is to lead.

About the Authors
Cameron Quintain is a quiet librarian by day and a swashbuckling superhero by night. He is already at work on his next Erotic Dominion mystery.

Elizabeth Schechter was born in New York at some point in the past. She is officially old enough to know better, but refuses to grow up. She has been, at various points in her life, a jeweler, an artist, a counselor, a minister, a fitness instructor, a singer, counter-person in a coffee-shop, a lab tech, a research assistant, quarter-staff master, a daycare worker, a high school English teacher, a kindergarten teacher, a stay-at-home-mom, an editor, and a writer. She firmly believes in the Heinlein adage that specialization is for insects, and is still working on the tinker, tailor, soldier, and spy parts of the list.

Elizabeth lives in Central Florida with her husband and son, and a most accepting circle of friends who are both very amused and very proud of the pervy, fetish writer in their midst.

Elizabeth can be found online at, or on Facebook at

TammyJo Eckhart, PhD, is the author of seven previous books of BDSM fiction, and has been part of the BDSM community since 1990. 2010 saw the publication of her first non-fiction book from Greenery Press (At Her Feet: Powering your Femdom Relationship). She has been a leader in several BDSM organizations ranging from the AppleMunch to two difference university groups (Conversio Virium and Headspace) as well as a private support group for tops. As of the spring of 2010, her “kinky family” is comprised of Tom, her husband since 1992, and Fox, her slave since 1999. She loves visiting conventions as well as organizations to read, sell books, or offer her experience and insights on various topics in the form of lectures or workshops.
