BLOG TOUR: All the Wrong Places (Bluewater Bay #14) by Ann Gallagher

AllTheWrongPlaces_TourBannerWelcome to the Riptide Publishing/Ann Gallagher blog tour for All the Wrong Places, the latest installment in the Bluewater Bay series!

AllTheWrongPlaces_600x900Three cheating girlfriends in a row have given skateboarder Brennan Cross the same excuse: he wasn’t meeting their needs. Desperate and humiliated, he goes to the professionals at the local sex shop for advice.

Zafir Hamady, a sales clerk at Red Hot Bluewater, has an unusual theory: he doesn’t think Brennan is a bad lover. In fact, he doesn’t think Brennan is heterosexual. Or sexual at all, for that matter. He also can’t stop thinking about Brennan. But even if he’s right and Brennan really is asexual, that doesn’t mean Zafir has a chance. Brennan’s never dated a man, and Zafir’s never met anyone who’s game for a Muslim single father with a smart mouth and a GED.

Brennan’s always thought of himself as straight. But when sex is explicitly out of the mix, he finds himself drawn to Zafir for the qualities and interests they share. And Zafir can’t help enjoying Brennan’s company and the growing bond between Brennan and his son. They work well together, but with so many issues between them, doubts creep in, and Brennan’s struggle with his identity could push away the one person he didn’t know he could love.

Ann Gallagher is the slightly more civilized alter ego of L.A. Witt, Lauren Gallagher, and Lori A. Witt. So she tells herself, anyway. When she isn’t wreaking havoc on Spain with her husband and trusty two-headed Brahma bull, she writes romances just like her wilder counterparts, but without all the heat. She is also far too mature to get involved in the petty battle between L.A. and Lauren, but she’s seriously going to get even with Lori for a certain incident that shall not be discussed publicly.

Selfie (Bluewater Bay) by Amy Lane

One year ago, actor Connor Montgomery lost the love of his life to a drunk driver. But what’s worse for Connor is what he still has: a lifetime of secrets born of hiding his relationship from the glare of Hollywood. Unable to let go of the world he and Vinnie shared, Connor films a drunken YouTube confession on the anniversary of Vinnie’s death.

Thankfully, the video was silent—a familiar state for Connor—so his secret is still safe. He needs a fresh start, and a new role on the hit TV show Wolf’s Landing might be just that.

The move to Bluewater Bay may also mean a second chance in the form of his studio-assigned assistant. Noah Dakers sees through Connor’s facades more quickly than Connor could imagine. Noah’s quiet strength and sarcastic companionship offers Connor a chance at love that Hollywood’s closet has never allowed. But to accept it, Connor must let Vinnie go and learn to live again.

Amy Lane hits it out of the park with the 13th installment in the Bluewater Bay series. This heartfelt, riveting tale grabs readers with an emotional hook and never lets go.  Lane expertly navigates the waters of grief and loss, emphasizing the change and complexity of the healing process at every stage while also planting the seed of hope and acceptance. That one seed is like a beacon in the dark at times when the stark reality of suffering threatens to swallow you whole.

Connor Montgomery is struggling to pick up the pieces of his personal and professional lives after the loss of the love of his life, Vinnie. Closeted and grieving, Connor’s not sure how to resume life in the Hollywood spotlight until an unwise, drunken YouTube confession thrusts him back into the public eye. Recognizing the early stages of self-destruction, his agent steps in to help get him back on track. His new role takes him to the set of Wolf’s Landing and beautiful Bluewater Bay, world’s away from the painful memories of all he’s lost.

What’s particularly great about Connor’s time in Bluewater Bay is that Amy Lane doesn’t sugarcoat it.  Her multi-faceted storytelling gives a clear view of how Connor’s coping with Vinnie’s loss and its impact on the world around him. Even as he’s presented with opportunity after opportunity to move on – including a new love interest he’s almost actually shocked to be interested in – he’s plagued by memories, missed opportunities and a slew of new issues that could impact his career. It’s refreshing to see such a bold, unadulterated look at the grieving process, something occasionally glossed over because, let’s face it, it’s not pretty. One kiss, landing a new role,  finding new love – none of these magically erases the pain. Sometimes trying to reconcile new feelings with old can be catastrophic mentally and emotionally, and the impact is never limited to just the person suffering. In this case Connor has a lot to work through before he’s healthy and stable enough to find his own reasons to keep going.

Lauren Gallagher is an abnormal romance writer who has recently been exiled from the glittering utopia of Omaha, Nebraska, to an undisclosed location in South America. Along with her husband, a harem of concubines, and a phosphorescent porcupine, she remains, as always, in hiding from the Polynesian Mafia. For the moment, she seems to have eluded her nemesis, M/M romance author L.A. Witt, but figures L.A. will eventually become bored with the wilds of Spain and come looking for her. And when that time comes, Lauren will be ready. Assuming L.A. doesn’t have her hands full keeping track of Lori A. Witt and Ann Gallagher, which she probably will.

StuckLanding_600x900For months, acclaimed Wolf’s Landing director/producer Anna Maxwell has been nursing a crush on Natalya Izmaylova, a former Russian gymnast and current Wolf’s Landing stunt coordinator. When Anna witnesses Natalya’s very public breakup with her boyfriend, she can’t resist inviting her over for drinks to commiserate about love and all that nonsense. Commiseration doesn’t last long, and soon Anna’s in bed with the hottest woman she’s ever touched, living out fantasies she didn’t even know she had.

Despite the amazing sex, Anna wants to proceed with caution. They’re both newly single. They’re colleagues. And there’s the not-so-small matter of Anna’s biphobia.

Natalya won’t commit to someone who clings to ridiculous stereotypes, but they can’t avoid each other at work, and there’s no ignoring their chemistry. Anna’s defenses are slowly eroding, and Natalya is willing to give her another chance. But Natalya only has so much patience, and even scorching-hot sex won’t keep her coming back forever. If Anna doesn’t come to her senses soon and let go of her prejudices—not to mention her insecurities—she’s going to lose the woman of her dreams.

BLOG TOUR: Rain Shadow by L.A. Witt

Welcome to the Riptide Publishing/L. A. Witt blog tour for Rain Shadow, the latest installment in the multi-author Bluewater Bay series!

Every comment on this blog tour enters you in a drawing for a choice of two eBooks off my backlist (excluding Rain Shadow) and a $10 Riptide Publishing store credit. Entries close at midnight, Eastern time, on October 24th, and winners will be announced on October 26th.  Contest is NOT restricted to U.S. entries.

Rain (Fore)Shadow

So Rain Shadow is, of course, related to the other books in the series. While they can all be read as standalones, this one is somewhat of a prequel to Stuck Landing, which will be the first lesbian book.

Basically, Rain Shadow is the story of Jeremy, who works as Anna Maxwell’s bodyguard. While Jeremy and Scott engage in their shenanigans, Anna’s life is rapidly coming unraveled. Or rather, her relationship with her longtime girlfriend is rapidly coming unraveled. They haven’t exactly been in a good spot for a while now—as many of you may recall from as far back as Starstruck—but now they’re circling the drain.

On the bright side, their attempts to save their relationship mean dragging Jeremy with them to their endless counseling appointments. But of course, there’s no need to take her bodyguard into her appointments, right?  And there’s only so much Angry Birds a guy can play in the waiting room before he finally has to slip into the office across the hall and—

Well. You’ll just have to wait and see.

As for Anna, her situation is pretty sucky. It has been for a while, and it only gets worse.

But never fear! Anna has happiness on the horizon.

Or does she…?

Rain Shadow CoverJeremy Rose came to Bluewater Bay to work as Anna Maxwell’s bodyguard, not to escape his increasingly bitter relationship with his estranged kids. He just wants to focus on his job and be alone for a while. He’s done with love, especially now that three years after his long overdue divorce, he’s got a front-row seat to the rapid deterioration between Anna and her girlfriend. Cynical doesn’t even begin to describe him.

Then Anna and Leigh’s attempts to reconcile put him in the crosshairs of marriage counselor Scott Fletcher. Scott’s exactly what Jeremy needs right now: gorgeous, hot, horny, single, and 100% uninterested in a relationship. The problem is, too much no-strings-attached sex — and too much time in each other’s company — inevitably builds emotional connection.

Except Jeremy refuses to seek counseling for his broken family, and Scott refuses to get seriously involved with men who work dangerous jobs. They both need to realize they can only hide for so long from the pain they came here to escape. They must face their pasts before they lose their shot at a happy future.

Rain Shadow is available from Riptide Publishing.

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut…

L. A.’s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter @GallagherWitt.
