Book Title: His Premier

Series: Sizzling Miami Book 6

Author: Jessie G

synopsisHis PremierFinal
Born into wealth and privilege, Colin Sinclair was raised on the knowledge that money could buy anything and everyone had a price. Trouble was no trouble at all, not when the money was there to sweep it under the rug. But those lessons, learned at the knee of his father, were going to be challenged in a way that would change Colin forever.
In middle class suburbia, Arnaud Dechene learned the value of hard work, focus, and dedication to a dream. He was well on his way to achieving it, the role of Premier, when he catches Colin’s eye. Rich snobs didn’t usually do it for him, but there was something about Colin that made him impossible to resist.
Despite being opposites in every way, falling into a relationship was surprisingly—and deceptively—easy, but Arnaud never lost sight of his dream and Colin had trouble accepting that he was second place to anything. When a stupid argument leads to a reckless act, the repercussions leave Arnaud fighting for his life and Colin paying with his own.
With a little meddling from an aging schemer and intentions that are more well-meaning than realistic, their paths will cross again. However, Colin and Arnaud aren’t the same men who loved with abandon. They are older and wiser, with a history that might be too big to overcome.
Fans of the series know revenge is a double-edged sword, forgiveness doesn’t always come easy, and forgetting is damn near impossible. But love…well, that may just conquer all.

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I’d begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it’s a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With three series in the works and counting, it’s been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I’m a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you’ll find throughout my books.

thp_reviewOur thoughts:

Yet another fantastic addition to the Sizzling Miami series. Just when I think I’ve read the best novel within the best series, it just keeps getting better and better! Jessie G has an absolute hit with the series as a whole, but each individual novel within the series takes us, the reader, to new heights. In this instance, we are emotionally undone from Colin’s self flagellation.

Colin and Arnaud met young and fell hard. Totally opposite in dreams, desires, family, social class, and upbringing. They were an odd pairing but scoffed in the face of anyone who didn’t see their absolute love for each other.

Arnaud was working hard to be the best dancer he could be. His dream of traveling with a prestigious company one day was his driving force. Colin was content being with Arnaud, supporting him and learning business, as his upper crust father demanded of him. Going to school, working himself every minute of everyday to eventually be able to tend to Arnaud’s every need, and show his support was Colin’s main goal. Wealth allotted Colin a lot of opportunities and he was going to set himself in to the right position so he could spend his time with Arnaud.

That’s until everything goes completely wrong and their lives are forever changed. Ripped apart from each other and, as far as Colin is concerned, never to cross paths again.

Colin has such guilt and remorse over the event from years prior. He cannot see past what happened and move forward. He feels it is his life’s work to be miserable. To never feel joy. To never be loved. To never feel one ounce of happiness. He should always live with the knowledge and guilt of that one life changing event. He should always be miserable and just existing. This is Colin’s mindset. How can anyone reach through that wall of burden and make a good man see he has paid the price and deserves more?

Arnaud is determined to be in Colin’s life again and be the one, with the help of Colin’s friends, to make him see that he is worthy of so much more. Together they can be what they once were and maybe even better.

This is quite the emotional journey. Colin is so sweet and gentle. He broke my heart repeatedly. Arnaud was always a bright spot. Well adjusted and driven, he knew what he wanted, Colin, and wasn’t about to give up on getting him back.

The support system from Saul, Bull, Red, Chris, and Owen were perfection. These guys have been through a lot. They’ve made their own family through adversity and hardship using pure strength of will and character. It’s always joyous seeing the guys band together for each other. It’s also a treat to revisit favorite couples from past novels in the series.

His Premier. Go read it!

We cannot contain how excited we are to be part of the final blog tour for the Collars & Cuffs series. KC Wells and Parker Williams have brought such diverse characters of depth that it’s sad to see this series come to an end. We celebrate this final book and bring a character interview from Jeff, whom we originally met in his and Damian’s book Damian’s Discipline (book five in the series).

An Interview with Jeff, Damian’s Discipline book 5.

What is your biggest fear?

Losing Damian’s love. You can NOT repeat this to anyone, okay? Damian’s…I don’t know how to describe it. I’ve gone to the club a few times with him, and I see how some of the other Doms are, all larger than life. Damian isn’t like that. Damian has a quiet strength. Even though the relationship we have isn’t a D/s one, the man has still given me the guidance I needed to become a better person than I am. Which, let’s be honest, really wasn’t difficult. I was kind of a shit. Still am, I suppose. But he loves me anyway.

What is your most prized possession?

I bet most people will say something big and extravagant, but not me. My most prized possession is a bronze colored sweater that Damian bought for me when I first moved in with him. I love it because it’s soft and warm, but what really makes it something I can’t bear to be apart from is despite my behavior and the numerous mistakes I made, Damian still bought it for me.

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?

I’m still working with Ron on woodworking. I’ve gotten to be pretty good, too, or so he says. I like making little things for Damian, but what I really want to do is make him a chest of drawers for his clothes. Something elegant and classy, like he is. Yeah, I know I sound like a sap in love, but maybe that’s because I am. :)

Your best childhood memory?

I don’t have a best childhood memory. Can we move on to the next question please?

Where do you hope to be in five years?

You know, I’m going to be honest…I never thought I’d have a future. I figured one day they’d find my body in the gutter, and I’d be buried in a plot with all the other people no one wanted to claim. But now? In five years I can see myself actually becoming someone. Ron says I’ve got the potential to be a woodworker, and I think to myself that maybe I can do this. I dream…it sounds stupid when I say it out loud…but I thought about opening a shop where people could come in and look at what I’ve made. The prices would be exorbitant, but they would know the quality was worth every penny.

When I first told Damian, I thought he’d laugh, but he got this look on his face, and started asking me what kind of shop I’d look at. He had a friend of his draw up some designs, and show them to me. A big picture window display would show off some of the things I’d worked on, and we’d constantly have to be cleaning the nose and fingerprints off the windows. The store would have natural lighting, and everything would gleam. There’d be so many sales, I’d have to hire someone to take care of the till, while I was in the back creating new things.

It’s years away, if it ever happens, but now that I can see that dream, I want it more than anything. And I think Damian wants it for me.

I love him.

Blurb:

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

Excerpt:

“Honey, I’m home.”

Alex laughed and came out of the kitchen to greet his husband. “We’ve talked about this, right? You do not walk into this apartment and talk to me like I’m the little wife.”

Leo kissed him soundly on the cheek. “Aw, but you’d look great in an apron, holding a glass of beer out for your weary, hard-working hubby.” He smirked. “And besides, no one in their right mind would call you little.”

Alex quirked his eyebrows. “One, you don’t drink beer, which is why there’s a glass of chilled chardonnay on the living room table, waiting for you. Two, excuse me—weary? Hard-working? You’ve been standing around in leather chaps and a harness, watching while guys do all manner of things to each other, which probably included a lot of fucking, because, hey, it’s Saturday night, right?”

Leo sighed happily. “What can I say? I love my job.”

Meet K.C. Wells:

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….

Meet Parker Williams (or at least his voices):

Good day! We are the voices that live inside Will’s head. The ones who whisper to him constantly, beckoning him to speak of our adventures, to tell of our love, and perhaps, if we’re in a mood, kill a person or two.

We guide his hand as he tells our tales where love is the most powerful force, but must be worked for, molded, and finally, embraced. There can be no shortcuts or substitutions on the path to a happily ever after.

We hope you will join with us as Will fulfills his obligation to ensure our stories are told and, we hope, enjoyed.

Our thoughts:

This is a hard review to write. I have very much enjoyed the Collars and Cuffs series from the beginning. I enjoyed meeting a new couple with each new release, yet having the opportunity to revisit a few of the’old’ couples again in that same release. They felt like family. They stole my heart. They brought happiness, tears, laughs, and emotions so worth feeling.

Endings and Beginnings is the last book in the Collars and Cuffs series. It’s the end for Leo, Thomas, and their boys. But, it’s the beginning of a new club. adventure and potential. Eli and Jared are off to start their own club under the mastery of Thomas and together they will spread the good that has come from Collars and Cuffs.

This novel was really about all the couples and, of course, one new relationship with Darren and JJ. They’re all coping with a big development. Something that impacted so many of their lives and impacted the club as a whole. We know Darren from when Thomas took Peter for his shaving prior to his rebirth. JJ is a new barman at the club but he’s got a secret that could be a game charger, impacting those he knows. Of course with this fantastic and caring group, he’s nothing to worry himself over.

Darren was passionate and takes to learning to master quite well. I liked how JJ and Darren learn together and really connect. JJ finally finds himself and that good; because, he was so twisted and confused. He realizes how much he ran from everything and how wrong that was, and unfair.

Peter has to stand up and remember his training and his progress. That big piece of news almost shatters him and pulls him away from Thomas and all he’s done to help him. Of course, Thomas will always provide and take care of his boy. Peter has grown the most of all the guys and I felt he deserved to be a big part of this story. We can leave this series knowing he’s alright and so much stronger.

I look forward to the next chapter. I grudgingly leave this series behind but I leave knowing it will be one I recommend to everyone and would read over and over again. Thank you KC Wells and Parker Williams. You wrote your hearts out and it shows on the pages of these eight books.

We’re getting the band back together.

Those five words send a chill down Miki St. John’s spine, especially when they’re spoken with a nearly religious fervor by his brother-in-all-but-blood, Damien Mitchell. However, those words were nothing compared to what Damien says next.

And we’re going on tour.

When Crossroads Gin hits the road, Damien hopes it will draw them closer together. There’s something magical about being on tour, especially when traveling in a van with no roadies, managers, or lovers to act as a buffer. The band is already close, but Damien knows they can be more—brothers of sorts, bound not only by familial ties but by their intense love for music.

As they travel from gig to gig, the band is haunted by past mistakes and personal demons, but they forge on. For Miki, Damie, Forest, and Rafe, the stage is where they all truly come alive, and the music they play is as important to them as the air they breathe.

But those demons and troubles won’t leave them alone, and with every mile under their belts, the band faces its greatest challenge—overcoming their deepest flaws and not killing one another along the way.

Our thoughts:

Crossroads Gin is going on tour. Miki, Damien, Forest, and Rafe are hitting some of the dive bars and run down stages in towns across the US. Damien wants the newly formed band to really connect and this seems the best way to do so. Along the way we get to experience what is still haunting each man as he tries to make music, build friendships, and deal with being away from his lover.

I absolutely loved this book. I felt like it was a compilation of little shorts from each band member. We see Rafe fighting the demons of addiction and how much Quinn still keeps him centered. The irony of Quinn needing medication to stay focused and to feel like the world isn’t crushing him. On the flip side, Rafe craves meds for an entirely different reason–desire and addiction.

Forest and Connor are just so stinking cute together. Also, fierce and extremely hot. Molten hot. Forest and Connor have a big secret and it’s just perfection. They’re very secure in their relationship and seem to handle this road tour quite well.

Damien seems so strong and totally in his element. It isn’t until tragedy strikes the band again that we see him falter. As always, his Sionn is there to help Damien work things out and accept what he cannot change– his past. Damien’s meltdown helps us understand why he wanted this tour to go down the way it did, small tour van, roach motels, gas station hot dogs, and small venues.

The biggest troubles always seem to find Miki. The guy just can’t catch a break. He’s attacked twice and after a third freak accident we see him totally lose his grip. Kane, and even Donal, is there to show him he is loved, cherished, and cared for. Miki is so afraid he will lose what he has. The fear that everything good has always been pulled out from under him can’t be shaken. Kane and Damien realize that Miki has too much locked inside and it might be time to talk it out with someone who can help him. Of all the guys, Miki is the one who still grabs my heart and holds on with an iron fist. His life has been so hard and tragic. He’s endured so much pain and suffering, I just want to see him happy and settled. Maybe that will happen with Kane and the whole clan, but it seems something else just might shake the stable ground beneath Miki’s feet.

The Sinners series is by far one of the best! Rhys Ford is a talented author and I’m always enamored by her stories, happy to know the men she creates, and experience the love and pain they endure.

Our thoughts:

Noah has escaped a life of homelessness and prostitution to stay alive. Without the help of Billy, he probably wouldn’t have made it for long. Billy was his soul mate, his love. Billy was the reason Noah was led into that lifestyle and also the reason he left it as fast as he could.

Now over a decade later, those memories are haunting him again. A kid, Jeremy, has shown up with the same look as Billy. It triggers many memories from the past for Noah. Jeremy is homeless, trying to attend school, and keep his grades up. He wants to graduate and win a business scholarship. School is everything for him. Being homeless, he’s easy prey for the likes of the local pimp, Willie. Willie’s thugs aren’t leaving Jeremy alone. That’s how Jeremy and Noah cross paths. Now, Noah is determined to help save Jeremy. To get Willie off Jeremy’s back so he can do great things with his smart business sense.

In order for Jeremy to be free of Willie and his thugs, Noah must confront his past and sell a piece of his soul for Jeremy’s freedom and safety.

It’s pretty sad to see what lengths Willie forces Noah to endure for Jeremy’s freedom. I think Noah has always held a torch for his long-lost Billy. Maybe in the far reaches of his mind, he thought Willie might come around and be the Billy that Noah always loved. Billy never returned that love, no matter how much Noah yearned for it.

The Angel of 13th Street is pretty complex. It brings to light the underbelly of homeless youth and their dive into prostitution. Noah got out and is trying to help others, but he will always be up against those willing to sacrifice everything to keep their supply of men for their business- at all costs. Just because Noah and Billy have a history doesn’t mean that Billy, now Willie, will leave him alone.

This novel is also about Noah’s strength to overcome. Even a decade later, he’s still being challenged and threatened. He’s also never been able to let his one true love go. When Jeremy arrives, there’s an attraction and lust for the guy. He pushed Jeremy away because of age, but it’s also because he’s still is not over Billy.

There are romantic undertones, but this is really a story of survival from a harsh world. Overcoming loss of a loved one and doing the right thing. The fact Jeremy and Noah might be able to find what they need with each other is just a little bonus to the real heart of this story, saving those who need saving. Noah is an angel to those boys on the street in need of help.
