Keep reading for details.

SpecialDelivery300About the book:
Book One of the Special Delivery Series

When your deepest, darkest fantasy shows up, get on board.

Sam Keller knows he’ll never find the excitement he craves in Middleton, Iowa—not while he’s busting his ass in nursing school and paying rent by slaving away in a pharmacy stockroom. Then Sam meets Mitch Tedsoe, an independent, long-haul trucker who makes a delivery to a shop across the alley. Innocent flirting quickly leads to a fling, and when Mitch offers to take him on a road trip west, Sam jumps at the chance for adventure. Mitch is sexy, funny and friendly, but once they embark on their journey, something changes. One minute he’s the star of Sam’s every x-rated fantasy, the next he’s almost too much a perfect gentleman. And when they hit the Las Vegas city limit, Sam has a name to pin on Mitch’s malady: Randy.

For better or for worse, Sam grapples with the meaning of friendship, letting go, growing up—even the meaning of love—because no matter how far he travels, eventually all roads lead home.

Warning: This story contains trucker fantasies, threesomes and kinky consensual sex.

Our Thoughts:
I have to admit, the first time I read Special Delivery was just before it went MIA pending re-release by Samhain Publishing. I was so desperate to read it, my poor blog partner Kristy endured days of me whining about how it was nowhere to be found. Eventually I found it on some remote Kobo site that seemed to be the only site in the entire world that was still selling it. (On the internet, that’s like the equivalent of walking across the Sahara for days searching for water.) Within days after that Heidi Cullinan revealed her plans for the series to be re-released along with a third, highly anticipated book. Phew! I found it just in the nick of time…or so I thought. Sure I got to read it ASAP – which I definitely did – but I didn’t get this flashy new cover and I still had to wait for the third story. That last part was TOUGH.

Sam and Mitch’s story is still one of my absolute favorites. I love the way they meet, the way they fall for each other and the way they are absolutely so in love with can’t-eat-can’t-sleep kind of intensity.  These are two broken, fragile guys who need each other like they never knew possible. It’s a pairing in which I honestly feel the two guys are more together than they are separately, and that’s not even getting into the kinky parts. ;)

It’s not all hearts and roses, though – Cullinan keeps things interesting by mixing in just the right amount of angst and conflict. One source of that angst is Mitch’s long-time friend, Randy Jansen.  I was dreading the thought Sam would have to meet Randy which meant it was pretty much inevitable.  Do authors revel in our anguish? Sometimes I wonder. Regardless – torturous or not – Special Delivery is one fun and interesting ride.

Okay, we promised you an excerpt, so an excerpt you shall get. See for yourself why we love these guys so much:

Blue Lines by Toni Aleo: Cover Feature & Excerpt

Stars/Hawks ScoreboardIt’s about a month and a half into hockey season, and I still can’tget enough. I went to my first live NHL game on Saturday, and I’d almost forgotten how much I love it – the chill ofthe ice, the hiss of the blades. There’s just nothing quite like it for me, especially when I get to enjoy watching my Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks beat the Dallas Stars. What a great night!

Coming off that high was difficult, so where better to turn than one of my favorite hockey series, The Assassins. I’ve posted a little bit on Facebook and twitter that I’m reading the upcoming fourth installment, Blue Lines, and you guys, it’s SO GOOD. I can’t wait for all of you to be able to read Erik and Piper’s story. For now I’ll just give you a glimpse of the sexy cover in case you haven’t seen it.

Blue Lines Cover LS edition

There are almost too many finer points of that cover to really do them justice, right? I kind of like this variation on the half-naked torso, just seeing the sculpted back. I could kind of stare at it all day.

Book Trailer: Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles, #1)

We’re thrilled to be able to help unveil the book trailer for Sophie Jordan’s New Adult debut, Foreplay!

Here’s a little bit about the book (from the author’s website):

Foreplay CoverBefore she goes after the life she’s always wanted,
she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

I love the premise behind stories like this – finding love where you least expect it when you think you’re looking for it somewhere else. I can’t wait to see things heat up between Pepper and Reece.

Foreplay is available November 5, 2013 from HarperCollins/William Morrow.

EXCERPT: Surprising Myself by Christopher Bram

Yesterday we featured a review of Christopher Bram’s reissued novel, Surprising Myself. (Check out what we had to say here.) To be honest, I can’t stop thinking about these characters, their issues and what it all means. While reading it, I frequently texted a friend because I was so anxious about the circumstances and events. It’s not something I could just let go of easily once I finished.

If you’re wondering whether this book’s for you, check out the excerpt I received from Open Road Media and see for yourself. Let us know what you think!

We mentioned yesterday that Surprising Myself is part of Open Road Media’s reissue of five books by Christopher Bram. Check out the other four titles being released:
