Although a boyfriend wouldn’t go amiss. Someone to share his beautiful B&B with, even if it is in the middle of nowhere and he’s long past the wrong side of thirty. Problem is, Nathaniel’s living with a ghost who thinks he’s cupid, and whose arrows fly a little too straight.

Gabriel Wickfield had the unfortunate luck of dying before his time, and now he’s stuck trying to make romance happen to earn his right to move along. Not that he’s bored in the meantime—Nathaniel is just too easy to tease. And also a little bit scrumptious…

With the curse reaching its expiration date, Gabriel needs to make a final match this Christmas. Without it, nothing but darkness awaits.

Love can conquer all, but can it beat death?

Our Thoughts:

I love reading winter or holiday stories this time of year. This year there has been an interesting variety, as far as genres, to choose from. The Winter Spirit novella was a beautiful story from start to finish.

In The Winter Spirit, Nathaniel, the proprietor of the Lake House Bed and Breakfast in Michigan has an interesting visitor. Gabriel is a ghost that has appeared through mirrors in the B&B since Nathaniel took over the place after his uncle passed away. At first Gabriel comes across as a prankster. Locking Nate and Elisa, Nate’s only employee, in closets and rooms. Sometimes Gabriel will rattle items or turn off lights. A prankster. In reality, Gabriel is a matchmaker. He tries to match couples visiting the B&B and he’s tried tirelessly to find love for Elisa and Nate.

Nathaniel and Gabriel start to have a deeper connection and a different relationship as time nears the 100th anniversary of Gabriel’s death. Gabriel becomes less ethereal and more solid, real. Now there’s nothing to keep the feelings back. Nathaniel and Gabriel give into their carnal needs and give with all their heart. But, Gabriel is still dead. He’s still a ghost and what happens after he returns to his ethereal state again?

The Winter Spirit is a pleasantly captivating story of unlikely love. It stretches your thoughts and preconceived notions on death and spirits. It’s also a sweet love story that is told with calm and light. The moments between Gabriel and Nathaniel are tasteful, discreet and extremely sensual. A nice blend of past traditions and present inhibitions, these two define a slow, deep love.

Another pleasantly perfect holiday story!

When Richard Patterson’s flamboyant brother storms out hours before he’s scheduled to marry his equally dramatic partner, Richard is left dealing with the fallout. The last thing he wants is more drama, yet he can’t deny his attraction to the effeminate event planner trying to salvage the wedding.

Evan thinks his crush on Richard is a lost cause, but one steaming kiss later, he learns different. What starts as a night of hot sex turns into a connection neither expected. But Evan knows their relationship is hopeless unless the ultra-conservative Richard can embrace every part of him—both in private and in public.

Our Thoughts:

I’ll just start this review off with full disclosure. I’m a huge fan of Lynda Aicher’s books. She’s a sensational writer and I was thrilled to see her published with Riptide.

I discovered Aicher’s Wicked Play series, which was m/f romance but she dared to throw in a m/m romance book into the mix. It was one of my top ten books read that year. As if that wasn’t enough, the cover was drool worthy. Aicher had me wrapped around her finger with her strong protagonists, hockey, BDSM and always an emotional battle. Every book is unique and not status quo. She’s not writing to a formula and I appreciate the creative turns her stories take.

All of that said, Champagne Kisses was a real Christmas treat. Richard and Evan are an established couple from her Wicked Play series, Champagne Kisses tells the story of how they met and got together. What we get out of the deal is one of the hottest nights between two reluctant men. Yes, reluctant.

Richard is reluctant to give into the temptations that Evan presents. Evan is proud, strong, smart, hard-working and defiantly gay. Defiant because he is who he is and he won’t change one thing to make someone else happy or comfortable. He’s a bit feminine, and unapologetic about it. Richard is the exact opposite with his stiff posture, professional mannerism and tight upper lip. He is handsome, dapper and passionate. He wants Evan but he’s just as scared as Evan is that they are too attracted and couldn’t walk away after a one-off.

Their one chance to connect is a night of epic proportion. I have never, ever read a more encompassing passionate scene. Richard is controlling but gentle. He’s firm enough to turn Evan on and make him feel conflicting sensations that go straight to all the right places. It’s kinky. It’s sensual. It’s gentle lovemaking and intense fucking. It’s the perfect mix of everything and it’s consuming and so erotic it is off the charts wonderful!! I’ve read nothing like it!

Richard and Evan will capture your heart. I hope after reading Champagne Kisses you’ll find that you need the rest of Lynda Aicher’s books because they’re  truly must reads! Also, you’ll never be able to drink champagne without snickering over how Richard uses it during their night of passion. :D

Our thoughts:

Reindeer Games is a perfect holiday story. If you’re looking for something unique and original, this novella meets those requirements.

A magical word of elves and fae is woven into a present day town with an intense Christmas spirt. Wassail, Colorado has always prided themselves in their year round jovial Christmas ways. Dashing von Stride is a toy maker and shop owner. While in preparation for the yearly window display competition, a mysterious sleigh appears in his workshop. There’s something magical about the sleigh and Dash decides to redesign his window dsiplay to incorporate the sleigh. His idea is romantic, yet still captures the heart of Christmas.

Niklaus Kringle can’t believe his reindeer, Reign, played games this close to the big day. Now he must find his sleigh before time runs out and he misses his delivery routes. What Nik doesn’t anticipate is the person currently housing his sleigh being his one true mate. Someone Nik very much wants to bond with.

We are taken from a sweet dreamy town into a magical elven world of the North Pole. A place that can be anywhere but housing that North Pole spirit. Dash is very accepting and it helps his past is more than he ever thought it was. Together they might find a new reason to celebrate Christmas and all its whimsy wonders.

Reindeer Games will leave you with a happy heart and anxious for the spirit of Christmas to weave it’s way through your December days.

Coxx was new to him. A last stop at the end of a night of solitary drinking. Somewhere he’d always wanted to go but had been afraid to. Not that night. That night alcohol gave him courage beyond his wildest dreams. After his tough day at work, he didn’t care about denying himself anymore.

The seedy male strip club was nestled at the ass end of West Hollywood, tucked away almost apologetically among the back streets. Its windows promised hot male dancers to cater to every whim. The carpet was sticky, but the beer was cold. A long runway featured shiny brass poles currently occupied by two dancers. The place was half-full, a slow night.

David Ackroyd sat on a stool at the edge of the stage, his gaze on the lithe blond at the end of the runway. He hadn’t expected to find any of the dancers worth more than titillation, but since the young man first slunk from behind the velvet curtains, he’d had David’s rapt attention.

He was average height with a lean, tanned body. All strong limbs and toned muscle, he wore nothing more than a sparkly silver thong and silly matching boots. The dancer’s plump, pert ass mesmerised David as he shook it in time to an old Mötley Crüe song and gyrated in front of a group of four giggling women.

Perhaps David hadn’t expected to see women in a place like Coxx, but why not? Ogling nearly naked men wasn’t the province of gay men alone; women had as much right to get their kicks as he did. The blond dancer played up to his audience by sliding to his knees and letting the women stroke his thighs and press bills into his thong. David doubted he would let his male admirers get quite so fresh with him. Having a man grope you was different. More intimidating, fraught with risk.
David took a swallow of Jack Daniel’s and Coke, wishing for a better look at the blond dancer. He glanced at the other man on the runway, a brunet. He was ripped and hard but nothing special to look at. He seemed tired, jaded and only spared each person at the edge of the stage fleeting attention. That was fine by David. He only had eyes for the blond.

Fluidly, the dancer stood up, moved a few steps back to the pole in the middle of the stage, and swung himself around it, wrapping his long limbs gracefully about the steel. David stared. The man hung upside down, ankles clinging, six-packed abdomen rippling. Then, he dismounted, stalked across the runway and stood with legs spread and hands on his hips, facing David. He seemed to wait as though for approval. David gulped as he lifted his gaze up the dancer’s magnificent body, lingering on the enticing bulge in his underwear. The blond was nearly too pretty to be called handsome. Maybe late twenties with perfect skin and large, almond-shaped eyes of piercing blue. A smile curled around the edges of his plump, sensual mouth as if he knew every one of David’s thoughts. Like he had watched him out of the corner of his eye and known David was salivating for a bit of the dancer’s attention.

David’s cock stirred. It filled with blood, pressing against his underwear with a sweet ache. He forgot where he was and drowned in the thrill of an attractive man seeking him out. David imagined they were in a nightclub, and he could take this beautiful stranger home if he wanted to and make love to him all night without money changing hands. He took another swallow of his drink as the man spun around, bent at the waist, and shook his ripe buttocks. Reaching back, the dancer stroked his own backside with lingering, sensual touches and pulled his cheeks just far enough apart that the string on the ridiculous thong shifted, barely covering a hint of pink pucker.

David clutched his knees and ground his teeth. His rampant cock raged against his pants. The dancer turned around. One hand on his thigh, fingers perilously close to his package, he swivelled his hips, thrusting his groin in David’s direction.
David watched raptly as the blond inched his fingers closer to the sparkling material covering his assets. His fingertips traced the bulge between his legs before he cupped himself and rubbed overtly. David licked his lips. The flimsy thong seemed to expand. Was the dancer getting hard? It was difficult to see in the darkness and playing shadows, but the underwear seemed strained to bursting, and the blond stroked his cock and balls as if he was very excited.

David placed his hands on the edge of the runway. He ached to touch, but he wouldn’t be that guy, grabbing disrespectfully and forgetting his boundaries. Now if the blond wanted to invite him to delve into that sparkly bill-stuffed pouch right here in front of all these people, that would be a different matter. David would give him the handjob of his life, no worries. Hell, he would open his mouth and let the dancer fuck it to his heart’s content right then if he wanted to.
The blond moved closer. He slid to his knees with thighs wide apart. David stared up at the sweat glistening on the dancer’s face and torso. He smelled the guy’s cologne, heady and spicy, and it made his cock jolt and throb. His fingers twitched. The dancer smiled. He gripped David’s right hand at the wrist and brought it to him, deliberately placing it on his own upper thigh.

His flesh was like damp silk. David stifled a groan. The blond guided David’s fingers to his inner thigh, electric-blue eyes never leaving his. When his touch grazed heavy balls, David thought he would whimper with desire. The blond’s hard-on was evident from this angle; his cockhead almost reared over the top of the overstuffed pouch. He ran his tongue slowly over his lips and then pressed David’s hand right into his groin, over a rigid pole, generous in every way.
David caught his breath. He closed his fingers around the dancer’s turgid shaft, squeezing gently but with greed, aware of overstepping the mark and ready to be apologetic.

A moment later, the blond jerked away. He skipped back to the pole and wound himself around it a couple of times before blowing kisses in the general direction of all those watching. Then, he disappeared behind the curtain.

David sat in crushing disappointment. His heart raced, and his cock threatened to explode. His desire dampened his underwear. He tried to rationalise to himself what had just happened. A scorching encounter with a man paid to interact with his audience. A bonus in every way at the end of a draining day. He smiled ruefully and finished his drink, adjusting himself discreetly before sliding from the stool. Drink and lust made him unsteady when he stood. He weaved his way to the exit and vowed he’d never come here again.

Our thoughts:

This rough and gritty erotica romance is sure to cause heart racing interest!

David is a professional at staying in the closet at his PR job. Pushing forty, he’s managed to keep his sexuality a secret from everyone. When work stressors become too much, David unwinds with drinks and a one-off. One particular night he finds himself in a strip club watching a cute, cocky blond working the runway and pole. David is instantly attracted to the young man and can’t get him out of his mind.

That stripper is Adam Vine, Jeremy in real life. His story is a sad one. Kicked out by his father for being gay, turning to the streets and tricks for survival up to his current situation with a jerk boss, Donny. Donny is one of those guys that is just pure evil. He takes from the guys who work for him in any way he can. Money and body.

For all Jeremy endured, I was shocked he wasn’t more broken. He seemed to accept his lot in life. He was more upset about David rejecting him as dating material than he was at being practically raped by his boss. Some severely messed up issues going on with Jeremy.

Jeremy had some major walls constructed around him. He’s have to in order to make it through all the hurt and pain cast at him in his lifetime. Everyone always wants a piece of him and he was resolved to that fate and did what he needed to do. All his various jobs were booked through Donny so he inevitably found himself in some sort of selling position.

David wanted to be Jeremy’s knight in shining armor, but that closet door was hard to open and walk through. The more he saw Jeremy the more he became infatuated. Nothing, even threats, couldn’t keep David from Jeremy.

These two seem doomed from the start. How can a rich, professional find the potential for romance and love with a former rent boy who shakes his money-maker well enough to make himself a lot of cash? Sex! They have a lot of casual sex, mostly paid for. Jeremy’s lack of inhibitions and David’s desire is explosive. They’re all hot and totally on, causing some seedy exploits. Forbidden is erotica at its finest and most uninhibited.
