The Special Ops genetic experiments were designed to create super soldiers, not sex-addicted doms.

When Delano Briggs, BDSM club owner and volunteer firefighter, is called to aid in the evacuation of a burning New York hotel, he thinks it’s just another job.

But after rescuing the irresistibly sexy Chanze, he learns that behind the velvet curtains of the five-star hotel is one of the most exclusive, and immoral, prostitution rings in the country. For the men at the Cloister aren’t merely lovers for hire, but genetically enhanced sex slaves, created to provide the brothel’s rich clientele with the most insatiable doms and delicious subs.

Kept against his will by the doomsday chip implanted in his brain, Chanze sees no chance of escape. Until Delano and his three fellow super-enhanced operatives infiltrate the club for a walk on the wild side.

Years ago the government used nano technology to build the ultimate soldiers. They could heal quickly, bulk up their muscle mass and later they were given advanced technological advances. Some can hack computers with a touch and various other useful tools. The program was later shutdown and the survivors of the experiments went off the grid. The one doctor that went a bit crazy was locked away and all was right with the world. Not quite. The nano soldiers, called Slayers, found each other and created a new life for themselves. Some are computer geniuses, others firemen or various other occupations that allow for cover-up. They are always seeking to help others and find more nano enhanced people.

Fate brings Delano, a BDSM club owner, volunteer fireman and former Slayer to the doors of RAB, Rent-a-Boy. As he’s carrying out a man, Chanze, almost consumed by flames, he realizes Chanze is a nano. It’s a total game changer for the Slayers and the guys at RAB. It seems the crazy doc got out and he is enhancing throw aways and using the nano technology to make the ultimate rentboys. The nanos allow for them to be used and abused yet heal within minutes, to do it all over again. One side effect of the nanos is an overactive sex drive and that is being exploited. The Fury, as the doc calls his group of enhanced rentboys, can’t help but feel trapped and used but conflicted because they crave the release.

The fire sets things in motion for the Slayers. They cannot leave the Fury there to be sold and exploited plus they cannot let the doc continue to illegally use nano technology and ruin more lives. With the help of Chanze, the Slayers hatch a plan to save the Fury and take down doc.

As if that isn’t exciting enough, H.C. Brown adds in a little romance to the mix. It seems the nanos can find a bond mate and it just so happens Delano and Chanze are bound. It reminds me of a super intense alpha mating within a pack. Delano becomes extremely protective, jealous and insatiable! It’s always fun to read about guys getting a little consumed by their lovers and this was that hot and intense. For a book about nano enhanced, sexually charged rentboys and soldiers, the sex isn’t over done or too much. The initial scenes are tough because you know it’s exploitation and the Fury are conflicted over what they think and feel. The encounters between Delano and Chanze are not sex for the sake of writing sex, it’s unadulterated love. There’s actually more action and planning going on than sex.

The bulk of the book is about freeing the Fury and when Slayers, Rhys, Bret and Jay are put in undercover, even more bonding occurs. Rhys bonds with a new Fury member Dylan. Bret and Adryck are on the same track although it isn’t sealed like Rhys, Dylan, Delano and Chanze. We have the bonding issue, freeing the Fury, inside and outside planning. It’s all very fast paced and suspenseful!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It has a unique plot with a bit of suspense, drama, BDSM and romance. Can’t really go wrong with all of that! I would enjoy reading more stories with these Slayers in the future.

Oh my this book! If not for familial obligations I would have locked myself in a room and read it from start to finish! Carter was breaking my heart and then Rock was stepping in the shards that remained on the floor. These two guys had so much of themselves to lose and I loved being on their journey to happiness.

Carter Montgomery has spent just shy of ten years working as an escort. It is a life he had to embrace when his parents rejected him at age 18. To get through harsh conditions he began working for an escort agency. After his first five-year contract he really had lost himself. Not knowing if he was even capable, let alone worth being anything other than a discarded whore he renewed a second contract. Carter survived that long in the business by playing a role and pushed the real Carter into a box. He keeps to himself and really doesn’t let anyone know who he is. Essentially, hiding from everyone and everything has been his survival. Now, he is tired and weary. He wants out but just doesn’t know what he can do because he doesn’t believe he is deserving of anything else.

Enter Rockford (Rock) Fielding! Working security at The Den, he has watched Carter come in with a client about once a month for the past year. He watched Carter’s every move and waited for that moment when Carter lets his guard fall and his eyes expose his true feelings. Rock is so drawn to Carter that he arranges a date through the escort service. Of course Rock is nervous. He is best doing security behind his computer screens. That is where he excels and doesn’t have to hide anything there, like his sexuality. The date is a bit if a disaster. They have dinner and barely talk and when bodies heat up Rock runs. Rock just can’t shake what he feels for Carter and must try again. This time, they open up more and agree that even though their start has been awkward and a little rough, they really like each other. Carter decides to meet with Rock in real life, as in no money exchanged! It is everything Rock could ever hope for.

Carter helps Rock accept who he is, a closeted gay man of 34 years. With his help, Rock can finally say he is gay and embrace what can come with that…freedom to be himself! Rock helps Carter see that he is valuable but also capable of loving and being loved. He isn’t a whore to be discarded, that he is very strong and has done so much to survive hardship and overcome. Carter can fulfill his dream of photography, he can move past his current state. Can Carter believe in himself?

There are so many emotions going with these two guys. They have so much pain on the surface that they are just surviving. When they let go and feel with each other is it true poetry in motion. They are passionate and giving. They ignite a fire in each other that no one has ever been able to start before. They are love incarnate, they just have to accept and acknowledge that as fact.

I absolutely loved this story from start to finish. Both Carter and Rock are in my heart now. Their journey is one I would travel over and over again. Bonds of Denial has been added to my very exclusive favorites list!

Review may contain spoilers so read at your own risk.

JP Barnaby has done it again! I swear everything she touches is golden! She writes fabulous stories and has the most delicious covers (with those yummy boys on them)! Most of her books are pretty intense and hit on some major emotions (which I LOVE) but Charlie, Rentboy was a true love story from start to finish with a sprinkle of fun loving wit! It was a change but a delightful one!

Charlie is a Rentboy, obviously. But, Charlie is actually David, an engineering student working his way through school and only seven months shy of graduation. He takes a job with John for the weekend. John wants a paid for boyfriend and some perks during their weekend and Charlie is more than happy to accommodate. What Charlie didn’t expect was the emotional attachment he starts to develop towards John. Especially after he discovers that John is being completely open with Charlie, using his real name, telling him very personal information about his life, crying. John feels a connection with Charlie because he is the first person to see past his name and just his true self. To John, Charlie feels like the real deal, an actual person who cares for him like a boyfriend should. It’s all very sweet!

Don’t be fooled by the sweetness! Oh my is this book hot. No hot isn’t good enough, passionate and sensual, yes! Seriously the looks, moans, sighs, movements, shivers, the intense urges. The lust hangs thick on the pages! I thought my phone was going to spontaneously combust! The scenes are varied and have you on the edge! *wink* Then just when I was thinking in my mind, please don’t walk away from each other forever, things really take an interesting turn! I won’t spoil the biggest part of the book but I was jumping for joy in my pajamas on the bed (because I literally bought and read this book as soon as I woke up)! Sometimes a Happy For Now that is leading to a Happily Ever After is just perfect for the story.

One more issue I would like to address. This is a completely angst free book! WOOHOO! I get so tired of whine-fest, angsty boys who can’t think or speak up for themselves so they let relationships get messy. This book was perfect, both John and David handle matters in a calm and adult way. They stop, think and work things through. All the while, they have major emotions going but they don’t lash out or offend. So refreshing! Go figure, adults working things out like….adults! Kudos, JP!

A little birdy told me (okay it was JP) book two is in the works and will be about, and I quote, “…a wickedly hot gogo dancer.” Did you hear that? That was my ear piercing scream of joy!
