Teen shelter volunteer Rich searches for love until Diego, from LVMPD Search and Rescue, finds him.

After declaring his love life officially dead, Rich wonders if maybe he should stick with his shifter book boyfriends instead. It’s not as if he has much free time to date anyway. Between working long hours at a coffee shop, guarding his sodas from his hygienically challenged roommates, and running the programming at the Vegas LGBTQ teen shelter he founded – how could there ever be space for love in his life?

Diego Espinoza enjoys taking his downtime from working Search and Rescue, at the Lucky Cup coffee shop. He can set up his laptop, peruse good sport climbing spots and observe the blond barista he’s been pining over for a while. He imagines that the pretty boy has more offers than he knows what to do with, so it takes Diego time to work up the nerve to approach him.

Rich isn’t so sure about the rough looking Diego – even if he’s always thought he was hot – but once he decides to gives Diego a chance, there’s an immediate heat and connection that takes him by surprise. As they learn more about each other and try to find the way to a future together, strange and scary things start to happen.

It isn’t until Rich is injured in a bizarre accident that it becomes clear that there’s someone out there who not only doesn’t want Rich to find love – they want him dead.

Excerpt:

“Whazzup, Rich.” Artie smacked him on the back. “Hey, you too.” Artie had turned his attention to Espinoza. “You’re here kinda early aren’t you? You know, I’ve been meaning to ask you all these months, are you like a biker or something? Those other guys that meet you here sometimes, are they like your gang? Ooh. Wait. Maybe you’re one of the stuntmen who do that show on the strip where the-“

“Here.” Rich shoved a clipboard at Artie that he’d retrieved from under the counter. “I need you to go in the back and do a cup and lid count.” He handed him the bent up, disheveled sleeves. “These too. Do a damage inventory and mark how many need to be replaced.”

Artie frowned at him. “Huh? We don’t usually do that till Monday. And besides, it’s morning. Don’t you need me to-“

“Please, Artie.” Rich placed a hand to his forehead. He thought he might be getting a headache. “I’d really like you to do this right now. I’ll call you out if I get too busy.”

“But what if I’m in the middle of counting and I get mixed up and-“

“Please!”

Rich took a deep breath. He wasn’t a yeller and his patience was something he treasured. However, he was pretty sure Artie had been sent to him by the universe as some sort of test. Maybe if he passed it, he could finally get a fucking boyfriend. He brought his voice down several notches.

“I apologize, Artie. I didn’t mean to snap at you like that. But it would really make me happy if you could please take care of that for me. Please?

Artie shrugged, taking the clipboard. “Sure, Rich. You don’t have to get your panties in a twist.”

After Artie had finally made his way to the stockroom, Rich angled his body around to face Espinoza. The expression radiating back at him was one of amusement. Espinoza’s gaze was still pinned on him. He arched an eyebrow.

“Alone at last.”

Rich reined in the urge to titter, giggle or otherwise sound like a goofball in response. He cleared his throat again instead, not sure what to say or where they’d left off in the conversation before the Artie tsunami had swept through.

“Jay?”

Rich blinked at him a few times, attempting to make the connection between Jay and the amazing brown eyes staring back at him. How could such a tough-looking guy have such beautiful long lashes? It wasn’t fair.

“Rich? You with me still?”

“Yeah, I…” Am definitely not thinking about your eyelashes. “Right. Jay.”

Rich shook his head in frustration. He hated unexpected moments. Planning his behavior and responses perfectly kept him from feeling out of control and stupid. When he’d finally worked up the nerve to ask Brett out to coffee, he’d practiced what he was going to say for a week in advance. He had no problem coming up with witty repartee under normal circumstances, was easily the social butterfly when necessary and the customers loved him, but a potential date? He’d turn into a tongue-tied hot mess.

“The whole Jay thing was a fail. In short, I’ll never be seeing or speaking to him again, so I wouldn’t let that be of concern.”

Espinoza remained close to the counter, leaning on one hip.

So fucking hot.

Our thoughts:

I can’t get enough of stories with a sweet guy being protected by his big, bad cop boyfriend. That’s what eventually happens in Searching for Shelter after Diego and Alex start dating.

Watching each other from afar just isn’t cutting it for Diego so he takes the plunge and asks the cute barista, Alex, out. Alex had just endured another date from hell. He’s more than anxious to see what Diego has to offer.

From the beginning these two are a fun couple. They’re consumed with getting to know each other, being open and having fun. They take it slow and really get comfortable. Courting at its best.

They become invested in each others choices, careers, friends and most importantly, their happiness. Diego is impressed with Alex, he’s a hard worker and gives so much of his time and talent to the homeless shelter.

The Search and Rescue side of Diego really shines through. Diego is extremely calm, sweet, thoughtful and all about taking care of Alex. His protective side really shines through and is welcomed when they discover someone is out to kill Alex after he witnesses a murder.

This story had the prefect amount of love and support mixed with suspense and drama. Reading Morticia Knight is always a treat!

Can the kinky billionaire owner of Dark Fantasy Resort Casino capture the heart of a muscled SWAT officer with a secret fetish?

SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator, Steve, wonders why he can’t stay away from the spoiled rich Allistair, owner of Dark Fantasy Resort Casino. They have mutual kinks – ones Steve can’t find with other lovers—but there’s something else about the emotionally detached, beautiful man that calls to him.

Billionaire Allistair stays alone in his luxury penthouse apartment at the top of Dark Fantasy, terrified of the real world and of opening himself up to genuine emotions. He takes lover after lover, all of them allowing him to do whatever he wants to their bodies, in the hopes that they can scam something from him.

One night is all he ever shares with a plaything—he knows they only want the money and luxury he can offer them and nothing more. But the down to earth Steve is different. They share the same kinks and are explosive when together. But could the muscled law officer ever want more than the lust-filled encounters that have become such an addiction?

As they grow closer, they discover they also have to find a balance between Steve’s everyday world and Allistair’s entitled world before they can truly find an ever after. They also have to make sure Allistair stays safe. Filthy rich playboys are too tempting to those who seek the ultimate payday—and who aren’t afraid of hurting someone to get it.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of BDSM and fetishism.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Steve kissed him again, exploring Allistair’s mouth with his tongue. He retreated, brushing Allistair’s cheek with his thumb. Allistair angled his head to suck on the digit, wrapping his lips around the calloused flesh. He glanced down as he did and noticed the bruising on Steve’s wrist from when he’d yanked so viciously against the ropes that Allistair had restrained him with.

After letting go of Steve’s tasty thumb, he pressed his lips to the purpling marks.

“Do you want some arnica cream for your wrists?”

“No. They’re fine.”

It was the same answer Steve always gave, but something in Allistair had to be sure every time.

“You’re not worried what others might think at work?”

Steve seemed distracted by loving on him, but in between nibbles, he spoke.

“If they’re bad enough, I put a Band-Aid on them.” Steve licked Allistair’s pulse point. “Otherwise, little bruises here and there don’t raise any alarms.” Steve scraped his teeth along Allistair’s ear lobe. “It’s not an uncommon occurrence on the job.”

Before Allistair had a chance to respond, Steve rolled them so that he was on top, holding him down. Such a thing rarely happened.

“I thought I fucked you unconscious?”

“Well, I’m awake now.”

“Hungry yet?”

Steve’s lips curled into a wicked smile. “Yes. For your cock.”

“Oh my.” Allistair’s dick had twitched slightly, but that was as far as it’d gone.

“I’m going to eat you up, make you come harder than you ever have before, make you scream my name. I want to be your everything.”

Our Thoughts:

A BDSM story always comes up in my lineup of books at just the right time. A big fan of BDSM and kink in my books, Morticia Knight was spot on in this installment of the Sin City Uniforms series.

Steve is a cop, actually, he’s a hostage negotiator. That line of work in Vegas can be quite grueling. Not all standoffs end well and when they don’t he really needs to find a release, a way to decompress. When that need to too overwhelming to ignore, Steve finds someone to fuck or beat it out of him, preferably both. One place he goes to find release is Dark Fantasy. When there, usually he is summoned by the eccentric Allistair.

Allistair is ridiculously rich. With extreme wealth comes extreme loneliness and panic. People no longer see him as a person, but a means to financial gain. He’s also a walking target. People want a piece of him and one of them includes his crazy brother. Most of the men in Allistair’s life have wanted one thing- money, never love and a life with Allistair. That is, until Steve.

Steve comes to the club and always accepts Allistair invitation to play in his room. Allistair is a master dominator and Steve is the perfect submissive. He’s a masochist who thrives on pain and being taken hard and rough. He’s open to many types of play but he also has a fetish that plays right into one of Allistair’s fetishes.

The two men compliment each other well as far as kink and BDSM play. Now they just need to find out if they can be companions in life. Allistair wants so much more in life but can he move past fears to fill the hole in his heart? Can Steve deal with a super rich eccentric and be patient enough to be what Allistair needs? Yes! They seem to find just what they need.

If you like good, strong and unyielding BDSM scenes that push limits and leave a man spent, this is your book! The play is superb and the men surprisingly emotional and vulnerable but also strong.
