BLOG TOUR: Labyrinth of Stone by TA Moore

We’re thrilled to invite author TA Moore to 3 Chicks After Dark to share some information and a special treat from her new book, Labyrinth of Stone.  Check out the story, an excerpt and enjoy learning a little bit more about what the world was like about a decade before Labyrinth of Stone. Be sure to follow the tour to read them all!

Labyrinth of Stone10 years ago the Black Rapture transported thousands of people – seemingly at random – from Earth to the strange, inimical world they call the Labyrinth. Will

Teller was one of them. Surviving that meant joining an army and becoming better at killing than he’s comfortable with. It’s enough upheaval for anyone’s life.

The only problem is, apparently no-one told his commanding officer that.

A year ago General Nathan Kearney’s lover abandoned him and the city they’d founded. Pride, and heart, stung by that, Nathan’s been trying to fill the void with a series of disappointing lovers. When Teller takes advantage of their long friendship to point out that none of these ‘Colt-lites’ were really working out, Nathan decides he’s right. His solution? Either Teller finds Colt and brings him home, or he takes Colt’s place in Nathan’s bed.

That’s pretty good motivation for a straight guy, except – Teller’s sexuality seems to have gone a bit Magic-8 Ball on that issue. Suddenly Nathan’s started to look pretty good. The situation is complicated by the fact that, apparently, Colt’s planning on coming back anyhow – and not to kiss and make up. He’s given their enemies access to a route into Kearney’s stronghold that only Colt could have known about.

Sent out of the safety of their stronghold to hunt down the source of the violent attacks on them, as another attempt is made on Kearney’s life by one of his ex-lovers, the last thing on Teller’s mind should be his sex-life. Except he can’t help but wonder, if he’d be ok always being the consolation prize. Particularly when he discovers that the unwitting pawn behind the attacks on their city is Colt’s long-lost son.

TA MooreAs a small child TA Moore genuinely believed that she was a Cabbage Patch Kid and no-one had told her. This was the start of a lifelong attachment to the weird and fantastic. These days she lives in Northern Ireland with an unimpressed cat and her friends have a rule that she can only send them three weird and disturbing links a day (she still holds that a DIY penis bifurcation guide is interesting, not disturbing).

TA Moore believes that adding ‘in space’ to anything makes it at least 40% cooler, will try to pet pretty much any dog she meets and once lied to her friend that she had climbed all the way up to Tintagel, when actually she’d only gotten to the beach and chickened out. She writes about vampires, werewolves and ghosts (*whispers* ‘in space!) and once wrote zombie erotica to prove it could be done.

Excerpt Six for Book Blast:

Things between Jake and me were getting better, especially after our dinner date with Kris and Nikky, but I was determined to do everything I could to fix our relationship.

I stopped having beers with the crew, coming home immediately after every shift. I cleaned the apartment and made Jake his favorite meals. I wasn’t much of a cook, but we had our staples. I did the laundry and the grocery shopping. Doing the chores wasn’t fixing the problem, but I needed to show him my commitment somehow and being busy helped with my wayward brain.

My nightmares happened when I couldn’t keep my mind off the accident, so if I could avoid the slow times, then I avoided the nightmares. Some dreams I could hide from Jake, but others were too intense and I woke up screaming. The bad ones freaked Jake out, and we’d both end up awake, hearts pounding, as we stared at the ceiling, neither of us sleeping again.

We needed time together, away from outside pressures, and I wanted to suggest a weekend in Napa. We’d always enjoyed time with Jake’s Aunt Cece and her wife, Brenda, and the chance to relax and reconnect would be a good place to start.

Jake came home after work, and after putting his bag down, he came into the kitchen and kissed my cheek. “Smells good,” he said, rummaging in the fridge as I tossed the vegetables in the wok.

“Your day okay?” I asked.

Closing the fridge, he leaned against it and watched me cook. “Got another large client today so that’ll keep me busy for a while.”

“That’s a good thing, right?”

A lot of the big clients went to Jake, and although we didn’t share much about our jobs, I knew he enjoyed the larger clients.

“So, you know I’ve got this weekend off?” I asked.

“Well, I thought about spending the weekend at Napa. I called Aunt Cece and Brenda, and they’re preparing the guest cottage for us. It would be good to get away and relax for a bit, you know, help clear our heads.” Given the strain between us lately, I didn’t think he’d want to share our problems with his aunts, so I was a little worried what his answer would be. But as I stood there, stirring the vegetables, his lips quirked until they became a wide grin. I breathed a sigh of relief.

“Welcome to Elderberry Grove. You passing through?” He offered his hand and I shook it. Then I reluctantly released his hand and busied myself with putting my watch back on.

“No, actually I’m going to be moving into–”

A sharp blast on a horn cut me off. Handsome-As-Hell and I both whipped around to find a huge white pig tooting the horn of the old blue Chevy pickup parked beside my Captiva. My mouth literally dropped open.

“Shit. I forgot how she gets when her coffee is late. Nice meeting you!” the man who saved my life grinned. Good thing I had my vehicle behind me or I would have melted like an ice cream cone in August at his flashing white teeth.

Dumbstruck, I watched the man grab a takeout container holding two large cups of coffee off my hood then run to the porker resting her cloven hooves on the steering wheel.

With a grin and a wave, he and his swine friend rattled off down the two-lane in the direction of Elderberry Grove’s booming downtown section. I closed my mouth.

“I get the feeling we’re not in Port Richmond anymore,” I muttered, eyes glued to the departing blue tailgate. Sambuca hissed at me in reply.

Guest post from Sean Michael for Underground: Special Teams

Today we are honored to have Sean Michael as a guest here at 3 Chicks After Dark! He has graciously given us a glimpse of what it’s like to be Sean Michael for one day. Thank you, Sean!

Don’t forget to read the excerpt, that is bound to pull you into the story, enter the giveaway and read our review!

A day in the life…

A typical day in my life involves werewolves, and other shapeshifters, BDSM Masters and sexy subs. It involves a young man with five younger siblings he’s trying to take care of after his folks die and another man who is having a baby through a surrogate. There’s a sexy manny, and a fun-loving triathlete. There’s a little bit of heartache, some growling, and a lot of love and smut.

At least, that’s what stories are open on my computer today. Tomorrow my day may involve vampires and an MMA fighter, you never know.

You see, my characters lead far more exciting lives than I do. I get up, I eat, I check out facebook and twitter, maybe do a blog post, put in some time editing stuff for submission or going through edits from books already with a publisher, and then I get to sit and write the stories my characters tell me and that’s where the interesting stuff begins. Usually, I stay up too late writing those stories before going to bed to do it all over again the next day.

Of course the boys on the page change as stories end and new ones begin, so there’s always someone new to learn about. And I get to tell one story after another, day after day. It totally rocks.

“Do you want me to observe only this evening?”

“For a few hours at least. Jack has vouched for you, but it’s important to learn us, how we work.”

Hunter nodded slowly. If these people were forcing men to be subs, making them stay, abusing them, he’d be very surprised. This level of care didn’t come out of a place of abuse.

“Let’s go downstairs. I’ll introduce you around. Ben wants to shave his boy today, head to toe, and he wants an audience.”

“Even eyebrows?” That was some hard core shit. And wouldn’t that surprise people who thought BDSM was all about whips and chains?

“Everything. This isn’t a punishment, but Pete is having serious issues with hiding from Ben.”

“Ah, Ben sounds like a very wise man.” Inventive, attentive, a good master.

Hunt already liked this group. If it turned out anyone was being held here against their will, if they weren’t on the up and up, he was going to be extremely disappointed.

“They’re both learning, but they’re getting there.”

“Are they a new couple?” Hunt asked, watching Dan move around the kitchen, triple checking everything.

Jack answered him. “Yeah, Ben has been waiting for Pete for years, but the connection is new.”

“I look forward to seeing them together, then. Watching their scene.”

“It should be intense, emotional. Pete is a fighter.”

Hunt nodded, already affected, just by the conversation.

Daniel chuckled. “Pete used to be a surgeon, and he had a breakdown. Went to work on a construction crew before he started working from home.”

“Those high pressure jobs often produce subs, don’t they?” The best sub Hunt had ever had was a man who ran a fortune five hundred company.

“You know it. We have a number of subs that are desperate to break, to allow someone else in.”

“I enjoy a challenge.” Hunt had to remind himself he was here on the job, not to find someone.

Jack grinned. “Me, I’m looking for a sweet boy, a good bottom who likes a hard fuck but isn’t pushing constantly.”

Daniel’s laughter filled the air. “In other words, you’re not looking for a boy like Keif?”

“Fuck, no. No, Keif needs an owner, not a Dom.”

Hunt’s eyebrow went up. “Keif?”

“One of our unattached subs,” Daniel said. “He’s got the need to be hard-used, broken down. No one man can handle him, no offense Jack.”

“None taken.”

“Is he here tonight?” Hunter asked, intrigued despite himself.

“He’s with our group every night he’s not on call.”

“Is that a yes?” Because he hadn’t heard a yes.

“He is here — plugged, bound, gagged, and, I would imagine well-sounded by now.”

Jesus Christ. A bolt of pure desire went through Hunt.

Daniel grabbed a case of water. “Come on, guys. Let’s go down.”

“Can I take anything?” Hunt offered.

“Can you grab the fruit bowl? I find fruit to be hydrating, erotic, and less messy than chocolate.”

“You got it.” These guys were pros at this hosting a BDSM party thing and Hunt found himself once again hoping they were all on the up and up. He wanted to play, not to make arrests.

Following Dan downstairs, he felt his anticipation ramping up.

Instead of a dark, club-like atmosphere, downstairs there was a room with couches and lamps, pillows. It looked totally normal, at least until he saw the cage in one corner. The massage table. The man kneeling, wearing nothing but a collar.

Hunter took everything in, eyes moving over the men in the room, cataloging them. The man in the collar had to be Pete, the slender, whip-like man looking on proudly, Ben. There were a couple of men sitting together, a few wandering. In the back, bound and ring gagged, cock stuffed was…

Wait. Wait. Hunter knew that shock of near-white hair, the icy blue eyes. He saw that face every time the SWAT team was called out. Keifer Magnessen.

Meet the author:

Often referred to as “Space Cowboy” and “Gangsta of Love” while still striving for the moniker of “Maurice,” Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to “Chicago.”

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He’ll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

When Hunter Simms goes undercover at an underground BDSM party, the last thing he expects to see is SWAT’s leading shooter Keifer Magnessen bound, gagged, plugged and very bare. He is immediately drawn to Keifer, and wants to get to know his fellow cop better. Much better.

With such a high stress job, Keifer needs to give up control on his down time in order to decompress, but it’s a secret he holds close to his vest. So, when Hunter walks into his chosen place to submit, he tries to cut and run. Lucky for him, Hunter is shrewd, persistent and quite possibly just the Dom that Keifer needs.

Can these two strong men find a way to make their personal lives mesh?

Oh this book was perfection. It had my personal trifecta: cops, BDSM, and a broken boy! I was a bit blissed out reading Underground: Special Teams.

Hunter Simms is working undercover on an informant tip. The informant says an underground BDSM group is beating its guys and is shady. Hunter is part of that scene as a dom himself, he works it so he is the detective undercover. After some time within the group he isn’t getting any negative vibes or seeing anything that is not on the up and up. What he does discover is Keifer Magnessen. Trussed up, plugged and gagged. Seems Keifer is a bit of a challenge to the doms, no one dom wants him as their sub so he is put up and then left alone.

Hunter knows Keifer, he’s SWAT, their best sharp shooter. What he sees in Keifer is a neglected sub. He’s never liked easy so he is going to take Keifer on if he can convince him he needs Hunter’s help.

Keifer is a mess. I love the broken boys. He’s abandoned by his parents, his line of work is stressful and sometimes has kill people. He’s all over the place, paranoid and yet sharp as a tack. He has a hard time turning off after a SWAT call, especially if he ends up having a kill shot. He’s has some submissive needs but he really needs someone to take care of him, bring him down, ground him.

Hunter notices immediately that Hunter’s never received aftercare after a scene. Ever. That’s his first mission, to show Keifer that it is just as important as the play. Hunter discovers Keifer is very sensual, craves to be touched. His pushing is because he needs the opposite but doesn’t know how to ask for it. Keifer is always lost inside his own head, worrying. Hunter wants to be the one to push back, make Keifer realize he isn’t walking away. Hunter wants to take on the worries Keifer has because he cares for him. Hunter loves the care just as much if not more than the play.

These two guys have it going on. They’re talking. They’re discovering. They’re caring for each other and really settling in. The time together helps them be more comfortable in their affections. Hunter is always there when Keifer needs him. I was truly blown away by Hunters care for Keifer. He was such a lost soul and it was destiny that Hunter found him that night. The love and caring Hunter has for Keifer doesn’t wane, if anything it continues to build and really shines when Keifer takes a big hit.

I do not know of Sean Michael plans to write more for Hunter and Keifer. If he does, I’m all over it! If not, I think knowing that Hunter and Keifer built a strong foundation is enough for me. I highly recommend this book. The BDSM scenes are dynamic, communicative and never rough or harsh. The chemistry is electric between Hunter and Keifer that it feels like it’s never-ending even during the mundane tasks of eating! Their communication is stellar, I always like more conversation and less angst. Watching Keifer have his needs met and be cherished is a thing of beauty. So, read Special Teams for all those reasons. :)
