3 Chicks After Dark couldn’t be more thrilled to host author A.F. Henley for the Wolf, WY Tiny Teaser Tour. Henley’s blog tours are always well thought out and packed full of information. We’re honored to host A.F. Henley and hope you enjoy the character teaser. Thanks for joining us A.F!
Welcome back to the Wolf, WY Tiny Teasers Blog Tour and Giveaway, and to give those who might be joining us a little background on the tour, I’ve been using “tiny teasers” from the novel to introduce the cast that lives between Wolf, WY’s beautiful cover. (Seriously, have I mentioned how much I love this cover? Oh, a few times already? Sorry about that…)
I’ve been using the “bit parts” in this novel—the side characters, if you prefer the term—to not only introduce the people that will wander through the series with us, but also to identify the traits and personalities of my main characters. One of the best way to find out what somebody is made from is a good close look at their parental figures. Not in every case, of course, but in a lot of them and in many ways it’s more nature than nurture: I have my father’s eyes, but my mother’s hair; I have my father’s skin tone; but my mother’s smile. I know of someone that every time he answers the phone, the person on the other ends think his mother is in town and has answered instead. The people that we become, at least in part, is imprinted in our DNA before anything else. Sometimes even temperament…
But before I get to the teaser, I want to remind you that these posts aren’t just about the excerpts from the novel. There’s also a giveaway – a single grand prize that includes a signed copy of Wolf, WY, a $20 LT3 gift certificate, and a Wind & Fire paw print bangle that not only looks cool, is not only manufactured with some very cool concepts, but that also supports a good cause. Be sure to read through to the end to find out more details on the prizes and how to participate.
And, for now, please allow me to introduce Randy Connor’s father, Henry:
Tiny Teaser: Introducing – Henry Connor
When Randy’s father looked up, he looked as if he wanted to frown and smile at the same time. “Who is he?”
“Vaughn.” Randy nodded down the street. “Vaughn O’Connell, to be exact. His son saw me having trouble with the car, so he got his dad to come have a look at it for me.”
“And I told you, the rad was frozen.”
“No, I mean this O’Connell. He a nice guy?”
Randy shrugged and had to retrain the light back on the tire. “He’s a local. They have their own way.”
His father stood, rubbing palms to dislodge dirt, and retrieved the tire iron. “And this son of his?”
“Uh-huh. Lyle. He a nice guy?”
A rush of heat began to bloom up Randy’s neck. “Dad! He’s only eighteen.”
“So it is the old man.”
“The old man that what?”
His dad walked to the other side of the truck and gave Randy a quick smile before he bent down and started tightening bolts again. “That you like.”
“Bah!” The sound echoed louder than Randy had intended it to. He lowered his voice and frowned. “I most certainly do not. The guy can be an overbearing jerk.”
His father didn’t say anything. He just stood, dropped the tire iron back in the bed of the truck, tucked his hands into his pockets, and started walking toward the house.
Randy shivered against a gust of wind, snapped off the flashlight and dropped it on the seat. “Besides,” he added, slamming the truck door, “he’s not that old.”
He pretended not to notice the smirk on his father’s face when they met up with each other at the porch. “Up for a drink?” his dad asked.
“Always.” Randy waited while his dad opened the front door, and eyed his father as he stepped past. “And I wasn’t kidding. The guy can be a self-important ass. All ‘do this’ and ‘do that’ and ‘don’t talk to me unless I speak to you’ kind of guy. Trust me, there is nothing there.”
“Mm hm,” his father nodded, toeing off his shoes. “Make mine a brandy, will you?” He was still grinning as he headed down the hallway. “I’ll let your mother know we’re back in.”

There’s nothing like a fresh start, and for Randy, still nursing wounds left by a cheating ex and harboring a deep mistrust for all things corporate, Wolf, Wyoming seems like the perfect place to start over. Secluded, quiet, and self-sufficient, Wolf is bound to not only inspire, but to bring Randy the peace he needs. The view’s not bad, either.
Vaughn O’Connell and his family are Randy’s only neighbors for miles, and while Randy knows it’s somewhat unlikely that a man with three kids is gay, it doesn’t hurt to look. When a misunderstanding brings Randy face to face with both Vaughn and his eighteen year old son, Lyle, Randy’s not sure what to feel about either of them.
But things are not what they appear in Wolf, and the closer Randy gets, the stranger the O’Connell family seems…

I’d like to take a minute to offer my thanks to 3 Chicks After Dark for hosting me today. Meet the Author:
Henley was born with a full-blown passion for run-on sentences, a zealous indulgence in all words descriptive, and the endearing tendency to overuse punctuation. Since the early years Henley has been an enthusiastic writer, from the first few I-love-my-dog stories to the current leap into erotica. A self-professed Google genius, Henley lives for the hours spent digging through the Internet for ‘research purposes’ which, more often than not, lead seven thousand miles away from first intentions but bring Henley to new discoveries and ideas that, once seeded, tend to flourish.
Henley has been proudly publishing with Less Than Three Press since 2012, and has been writing like mad ever since—an indentured servant to the belief that romance and true love can mend the most broken soul. Even when presented in prose.

After reading a few of AF Henley’s novels, I can honestly say Henley’s a literary marvel. As words fill the pages and those pages turn, one after another, a story is woven. A delightful journey that captures the reader’s interest and holds you captive until the last punctuation mark.
Wolf, WY is another beautifully told story by AF Henley. In Wolf, WY we get a dabble of paranormal but it really isn’t up front and isn’t at all the norm for the genre. Randy moves to sleepy Wolf, WY from DC. He was a successful lawyer but unsuccessful in love. He did what he always does and ran away from his problems instead of facing them. He ran as far away as he could that’s how he came to live next door to the O’Connell family.
Everyone is Wolf keeps to themselves, the O’Connell family included. Outsiders are not warmly welcomed, just tolerated. Vaughn O’Connell takes it upon himself to let Randy know how foolish he is to even think he could survive a harsh winter in Wolf with his ‘city’ skills. Randy is resentful but soon discovers that Vaughn is right. He’s in over his head.
A few strange events place Randy in the path of something different, something abnormal. He has the option to understand or run. What do you think he decides?
There’s no destined mate, no mating rituals, no packs that don’t accept. None of the things one normally finds in a paranormal or shifter novel appear in Wolf, WY. I will not say what does appear, but it’s an experience that was gradual and unique. I thoroughly enjoyed how AF Henley told Randy and Vaughn’s story and I hope you do as well.
RATING: BAD ASS BOOTS!
